< Archive of awards for previous years CSSS Travel Grants:The Center for Statistics and the Social Sciences awards a limited number of travel grants for graduate and undergraduate students and postdoctoral researchers working with CSSS faculty affiliates, and junior CSSS faculty affiliates. As many as twelve grants may be awarded per year, with the next call for proposals occurring in Fall Qtr. of 2008. The grants are awarded on a competitive basis by the CSSS Executive Committee for travel that advances the long-term goals of CSSS; notably, research in social statistics, quantitative methods in the social sciences, and collaborative research between social scientists and statisticians. Awards are made for travel to conferences, particularly for the purpose of presenting papers on research related to the goals of CSSS, or for other travel that advances the goals. Preference is given to travel for which other sources of support are not available. Priority is given to graduate students, post doctoral researchers and, on occasion, undergraduate students. CSSS Seed Grant recipients may also apply. The awardee should acknowledge the support of CSSS, using funds from the University Initiative Fund, in the course of any presentations. The amount reimbursed is the actual cost of the travel, at no more than the State contract fare rate for air travel, and no more than the University per diem rate for meals and accommodation, plus conference registration fees, up to a typical maximum of $1,000. A report from the traveler is required before travel is reimbursed. The report should include a brief account of the trip, and a copy of slides presented. |
